Ilkeston Cam on Holiday

w/e 27 July 2025
All of this week's pictures were taken with a Nikon D3300 or a
Galaxy S20 Mobile Phone.
Part 02 - Llandudno
Day two, our first full day on holiday, was spent mostly in Llandudno
and whilst much of the UK was sweltering in a heatwave, including
our home in the East Midlands, a cold front over the western
parts of the country meant that it was cloudy and decidedly on
the cool side in North Wales.

We arrived in Llandudno mid-morning and all the parking places
near the town centre appeared to be taken but eventually we found
a parking spot near the pier and Grand Hotel on the seafront.
|

We wandered into the town and spent some time looking around
the shops before enjoying a morning coffee in one of the cafes.
This view shows North Parade ahead (leading to Gloddaeth Street)
and to the right, with South Parade joining from the left.
|

It's also at this junction where North Parade meets South Parade
that the Llandudno Cenotaph stands on the seafront.
|

The Cenotaph also overlooks the Floral Clock.
|

The Floral Clock is situated in Prince Edward Square, a small
area of gardens separating North Parade from the prom at this
point with one of the flower beds featuring a large crown.
|

The familiar view of the hotel lined South Parade stretched out
around Llandudno Bay towards the Little Orme and several groups
of people were strolling along the prom. Only a few brave souls
however were braving the cool sea breeze on the beach.
|

Llandudno Bay is also known as Ormes Bay with the Great Orme
at the western end and the promontory called Little Orme at the
eastern end.
|

Joining those brave souls on the beach I left the prom and walked
along one of the wooden landing stages.
|

From the landing stage I was side on to the Big Wheel standing
on the pier approach. Coloured lights were flashing on and off
on the Wheel and were creating a bright spot on this dull day.
Unfortunately they flashed off as I took this photo. Now if I
was trying to do that, it wouldn't have happened!
|

As I returned across the beach, I noticed most of the seats on
the sea wall had been taken but the sky above the Great Orme
appeared to be brightening a little so that would be our next
port of call. Yes it was cool on the coast but at least we weren't
melting in the soaring temperatures back home. Every cloud as
they say ....
