What you might ask is the
Blog Box? Well to put it simply it's a cross between a web log
and a soap box where I can express an opinion, get something
off my chest or just point you in the direction of something
interesting! Each week (at least) although it might be more often
than that, I'll include a photo that could be one of my own or
it may be a guest image. I'll recommend other sites or perhaps
add a topical items or two. In other words it's a bit of free
space the content of which will vary and change on an ad-hoc
basis but for the latest news there's the BBC link on the right.
Raindrops On Roses ....
.... and whiskers on kittens may have been among
Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers' favourite things but
we seemed to have more than our fair share of the former this
summer. Even though there have been some fine sunny days, as
the season draws to a close I suppose the one word many people
would use to describe this summer would probably be "disappointing".
When you hear about the floods that are currently affecting other
parts of the UK and see scenes of devastation on the TV and in
the newspapers that have been caused by the tropical storms in
the Caribbean as well as tragic events in other places in the
world, it does make you realise how fortunate we are to live
in our little corner of the world, here in the East Midlands.
This past week has been exceptionally wet but a colleague I used
to work with reckoned that every day is a good day if you wake
up. To put it another way as it says in Psalm 118 verse 24 -
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad
in it.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without
the rain, there would be no rainbow.
