Ilkeston - Spring Is Springing
w/e 17 March 2024
All of this week's
pictures were taken with a Nikon D3300
It's been another dull, wet
and cloudy week so when Saturday morning dawned bright and clear,
it just begged to be taken advantage of and the flowers certainly
look a lot better in the sunshine.
Two circular beds at the entrance to Park Cemetery are filled
with daffodils and will only look better as more begin to flower.
|
The bed of daffodils on Chaucer Old Park seems to have benefited
from being planted much closer together than those in the cemetery.
|
It's not only daffodils that are flowering, daisies are flowering
too.
|
And as well as spring flowers, the blossom on the trees are adding
colour to their surroundings like this row of four outside the
Albion Centre on Bath Street.
|
Hundreds of dwarf tête-à-tête daffodils are
lining both sides of the steps into the Memorial Garden off the
Market Place.
|
And being as it's a Saturday, the plant stall on the Market Place
is adding more colour with a variety of different plants.
|
More daffodils are enhancing the grounds of the Derby Community
College in Pimlico.
|
And even more yellow daffodils on the bank at the car park off
Oakwell Drive contrast with the red of the post box on the other
side of the road.
|
There is also a variety of crocuses and primulas accompanying
the daffodils on the five bed island at the southern end of Chalons
Way.
|
The delicate flowers on magnolia trees
can also be seen around the town but as the morning progressed,
the cloud cover increased and rain arrived again in the afternoon.
Hopefully we don't get a cold snap any time soon or many of these
plants will suffer but it's worth bearing in mind that about
this time last year, we had snow!
