In recent weeks our travels have seen us alongside the River
Trent at Holme Pierrepont and the Victoria Embankment in Nottingham.
Previously we had also visited the nature reserve at Attenborough
which is also on the Trent and this time we are a little further
upstream beyond Long Eaton at Sawley Marina. From the main concourse
of the marina, this view across the fields is towards Sawley
Church.
|
The Trent lies between the church and the marina as does the
Sawley Cut which is just beyond the footbridge in this image.
Another small boat is entering the still waters at the marina.
|
Between the marina on the left and Sawley Cut to the right this
path leads to a footbridge. This idyllic scene belies the fact
that there was a cold wind blowing and storm clouds were gathering
overhead.
|
Some of the attractive spring flowers in the bed by the Sawley
Cut were doing their best to match the craft moored nearby.
|
There is water all around and over 400 moorings available at
the marina but this boat was on dry land. That's probably the
mystery.
|
As we prepared to leave Sawley Marina, it was not a moment too
soon. The threatening sky lived up to its promise and we pulled
off the car park in a hail storm.
