West Hallam - Well, Well, Well!
w/e 14 July 2024
All of this week's
pictures were taken with a Nikon D3300.

The roads were closed again in the centre of West Hallam for
the annual Well Dressing Festival and with bunting strung between
the buildings, charity stalls had been erected and manned by
many volunteers.
|

The Main Control Tent was situated at the entrance to the Dales
Shopping Centre car park which was also off limits to vehicles
as entertainment throughout the afternoon was scheduled to take
place there.
|

We had arrived in the village early and were in plenty of time
to witness the official opening of the Festival by Councillor
Carol Hart next to the Main Control Tent.
|

First up in the Dales car park was the Sing West Hallam vocal
group.
|

Entertainment was also to take place in School Square where there
was a reminder that the Scarecrow Trail was also being held in
conjunction with the well dressings.
|

The main dressing in School Sqaure, in front of the old school,
is seen here between two stallsand it was celebrating 200 years
of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The Women's
Institute (WI) contribution to the festival also featured the
RNLI with a scarecrow outside the Village Hall in the main street.
|

And next to the Village Hall another well dressing by the gates
to St Wilfrid's Church also featured the RNLI.
|

The large well dressing in front of the Village Hall featured
Elmer the Elephant and a smaller one against the door to the
Hall also had an animal theme as it encouraged everyone to Bee
Happy.
|

The Community Pre-School included both a well dressing to celebrate
their 40th anniversary and a couple of not-so-scary scarecrows.
|

But remember all those charity stalls in the village centre?
We were fortunate enough on this occasion to come away with not
one, not two but three prizes from tombola and memory games -
and we've still not heard the results of the raffle! Well, well,
well , whatever next!
