I have taken many photos of Saundersfoot, most of which have
appeared at one time or another on this site. The village, although
now best known as a holiday resort, has an industrial past and
was the place from where locally mined coal was exported. Many
"old" photographs are monochrome or sepia so, being
armed with a new camera that had a sepia mode I thought I would
try a few shots to recreate some views of the Saundersfoot of
years gone by - modern scenes in an old fashioned presentation.
Personally I think some images work better than others - several
are too cluttered and for me, less is more. You may choose to
differ but, in my opinion, the last picture on the page, "Out
To Sea" is the most atmospheric.

A few more figures appeared on the beach but they were easily outnumbered by the gulls. |
The village still looked sleepy but to me this is probably one of the best times to enjoy the surroundings before the hustle and bustle of the day take over. |
There was a little activity on the harbour wall near the fishing boat but not enough to disturb the peace of the early morning. |
The rest of the craft in the harbour were still anchored and tied up as the water receded. |
The occupants of a couple of vehicles looked to be making an early start to the weekend as they manoeuvred their boats down the slipway ready to launch. |
The sun had now really broken through and although the boats moored close to the harbour wall were still in shadow, it would not be long before they too felt the warmth of the day. |
Beyond the harbour entrance another boat headed off out to sea, in the direction of Tenby. |
