All this week's pictures were taken with a Kodak DX6490

Seasons Greetings

Ilkeston's Christmas Lights were switched on last Friday and despite the bitterly cold weather, the Market Place was packed with hundreds of local people. There was even a walking Christmas tree there.
Santa Claus

Another popular visitor extending a friendly hand, was Santa Claus.
Spectators

Pinxton Puppets drew a large crowd of spectators and they were not all children either.
Ilkeston Brass

Ilkeston Brass, in their festive hats, entertained with a selection of Christmas Carols ...
Stilt Walker

... and the walking tree mingled with the crowd. His partner, another stilt walker, dressed as a fairy was also walking among the assembled populace.
Lower Market Place

On the Lower Market Place, a number of local organisations and charities occupied the market stalls selling their wares and raising money for good causes with tombolas and other games of chance. It was also a good opportunity, despite the cold weather, to meet up with old friends, stand for a few minutes and enjoy their company at the start of this season of good will and peace to all men.
