Long Eaton Carnival Parade 2026

It's three years since we last visited Long Eaton for the Carnival but we returned this year to join hundreds more in the town centre to wait and watch the parade go by.

Derby Ambassadors

The Mayor's car headed the parade quickly followed by the Ambassadors Showband from Derby.
Carnival Royalty

There were then two conversable cars carrying the Carnival Royalty, the first with the Carnival Queen and the second with the Carnival Princess both waving enthusiastically to the crowds.
Dovedale Primary

Then came the first of the Carnival floats - large decorated lorries carrying representatives of various groups or organisations. This one was headed 'To Dovedale Primary and Beyond'.
EMUS

Several of the floats were carrying drama or musical groups, The Erewash Musical Society Youth Group (EMUS) were promoting their latest production 'Tainted Love', an 80s musical, which is to be staged at Long Eaton's Duchess Theatre in July.
Riverside Drama

Not everyone was aboard a float. Some Riverside Drama Company members in costume, were walking and carrying a banner.
IBC School Of Dancing

The IBC School of Dancing caters for all ages but their float was mostly filled with younger dancers.
Bubbles

Not quite sure who this group was representing but walking behind a car pointing the way to 'Pooh's House' they were certainly having fun with bubbles.
Rugby Club

We were almost swept with a float carrying young members of Long Eaton Rugby Club in the scrummage of older members walking behind.
Vehicles

As well as the large lorries there were also lots of other vehicles in the parade, both classic and modern.

Costumes

A Jurassic Park themed float by Insight Dance Arts was followed by s number of young people dressed in dinosaur costumes and they must have been sweltering in the midday sun.

Dancing In The Street

There were many more floats and people in the parade but almost at the end of the procession, followed only by the Police escort and a Fire Engine, was this group dancing in the street and encouraging everyone to join in.
